Wanted by Colbert, the famous minister of Louis XIV, the royal factories shaped the economic landscape of 17th century France. A symbol of state interventionism, these factories foreshadowed the rise of French industry in the 19th century. At a time of new crises and (de)globalization, it is worthwhile to visit the textile museum of the Wesserling park, installed in the old factory. The large boiler room is worth a visit.
