Catherine is delighted to welcome you to her breathtaking region, where she offers you a programme tailored to your plans, designing your stay according to your expectations and ensuring that you feel at ease throughout this intensive week. You will be immersed in the French language, life and culture in Douarnenez, a small Breton town by the ocean. On your own or in a group of no more than three participants, you’ll brush up your French with tailor-made courses, cultural discovery activities, local encounters, visits and excursions in the region, as well as authentic experiences such as games, cooking or an evening out.

Real French is a family-run residential immersion school for spoken French based in the Henusse family’s 18th-century farmhouse. Bernard Henusse founded it in 2008 and has since worked with more than 400 adults from over 30 countries, from beginner to advanced. Today, he teaches alongside his son Théo, co-director of the school. The school is deliberately limited in size: no more than two students can stay at one time, and each has an individual course; there are no group classes. The method combines an individual diagnostic, phonetics work centred on the 14 French vowels Real French uses as its pedagogical working set, oral comprehension at normal speed and French conversation. It is a rare format that brings together accommodation in the teacher’s home, one-to-one teaching and structured ear training. Formats include 18 lessons over three days or 30 lessons over five days, with a private room and all meals included.
