Descriptif du poste :

We are seeking a qualified and experienced French Language Instructor to provide advanced language training to adult learners. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of French language and culture, as well as a strong background in foreign-language pedagogy. The French Language Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction, developing course materials, and conducting research in both French and English.

Location : George C. Marshall Center/PLTCE, Breitenauerstr 16, 82467, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

Course Requirements :
• Core Hours : 08:40 to 15:50 (50 mins * 6 Sessions, each day), Monday – Friday, excluding U.S. holidays. (Courses are scheduled based on member and/or host nation availability.)
• Course length : Provide 30 hours of intensive target language instruction per week, for as much as six (6) contact hours per day.
• Course Duration : Each individual course is five (5) weeks in length.
• Class size will typically range from 1-6 students.

Course Instructional Task : The course shall reflect current usage of the language in the Target Language (TL) country : the French languages, as spoken in Iran. Thus, students shall be exposed to dialects, slang expressions and specialized terminology (e.g. military/security, political, economic, scientific/technological, culture and social, geography : physical, political, and economic.).

The topic of “culture” shall be treated as it contributes to proper understanding of a text or message and as it becomes critical in the ability to effectively transmit a message and to interact appropriately with native speakers. Learning materials shall be derived from current and authentic sources and from all media (printed, audio, visual, electronic, etc.). The focus is on communicative competence using functional, task-based language and activities although some explicit treatment of grammar and vocabulary might be required.

The instruction shall include oral communication, pronunciation, structure, listening and reading comprehension, writing, as well as special skills development such as gisting, translation, interpretation and transcription. Course shall include professional-level (ILR Level 3 or higher) material that addresses various aspects of the society where the target language is spoken (e.g. military and security, economic and political, scientific and technological, culture and social, and geography : physical, political, and economic).

Compétences requises :

• Fluent in the French languages, as spoken in Iran, with the ability to read, write, and speak at a level consistent with a person indigenous to the region.
• French Language proficiency shall be proved with one of followings
(A) a native speaker
(B) or that the proposed instructor obtained Target Language (TL) proficiency through formal education (courses completed at an institution of higher learning taught in the TL),
(C) or TL-proficiency certification (Interagency Language Roundtable/STANAG 6001 Level 4 or Common European Framework of Reference Level C2).
• English Language proficiency shall be proved with one of followings
(A) a native speaker ;
(B) through formal education (courses completed at an institution of higher learning taught in English – course materials, reading assignments, papers, and presentations in English) ;
(C) by English-language proficiency certification (Interagency Language Roundtable/ STANAG 6001 Level 2 or Common European Framework of Reference Level B2) ;
(D) or with documentation of English-language use in a work environment where English was the primary means of communication.
• Adequate educational background in foreign-language pedagogy to provide advanced language training to adult learners.
• a Bachelor’s degree or higher (MA or PhD is highly desired) in : Teaching French as a Foreign Language ; Foreign Language Education ; Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) ; Linguistics/Philology of the TL country ; History/Literature/Anthropology/Education (related to the TL country) ; or Educational Psychology/International Relations. For purposes of evaluation, “TL Country” is a country where the TL is the primary means of communication within and among government, industry, academia, and the local population. • Five years or more of significant, recent, and relevant experience in teaching French to foreign, adult learners. A higher number of years is desired.
• Two years or more of personal life and work experience in one or more countries in which French is spoken as a first language. Experience must be as a resident living, working, or serving in the military within the system and related environment. A higher number of years is desired.
• Must demonstrate ability to gain installation access :
 OR German/EU citizenship
 OR Members of the force or the civilian component or dependents
 OR Assimilated status under SOFA
 OR German work and residence permits

Diplôme requis :
