The Francophone Culture Fellow assists in the creation and teaching of a wide variety of events and classes on French and francophone history, traditions and culture. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) : conducting in-person, online and/or hybrid educational workshops on francophone regions,current events and phonetics, creating of cultural resources for the summer program for children and teens.In depth knowledge of French-speaking cultures and institutions is required as well as a willingness to share this knowledge with the Greater Boston francophone and Francophile community.

The French Library in Boston is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide French language instruction and cultural programs of the highest quality to inspire our diverse community of children, teens, and adults to explore, understand, and embrace today’s interconnected world.

Our library houses the second largest private collection of French books, periodicals, DVDs, and CDs available in the United States. Our school, a member of the Alliance Française network, offers language classes and programs for adults and children. Our cultural programming showcases the many aspects of Francophone cultures through numerous lectures, concerts, cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, art exhibitions, holiday celebrations, and more. Political and artistic personalities often hold talks at the French Library, making it the hub of French culture in Boston.

Compétences requises :

Be a native Frenchspeaker or perform at the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL)
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of francophone cultures and their traditions
Have an interest and experience in teaching French and francophone literature
Be dynamic, enthusiastic, conscientious, creative, comfortable with new technologies
Be diplomatic and able to develop rapport with colleagues, students and parents
Have a welcoming personality and be ready to contribute to team spirit and the cultural life of the Alliance
Demonstrate a desire to grow professionally by teaching different types of students and lead a variety of educational missions
Be efficient,concise and timely in communication as well as lesson preparation
Be able to teach following a task-based approach that follows the competencies described by the CEFRL
Have obtained a Masters in teaching French as a foreign language from an accredited program successfully gone through the French Ministry of Education teacher preparation program
Have genuine enthusiasm for teaching and an experience teaching children and/or adolescents and/or adults
Be able to manage a children’s class
