Assistant Professor in French

The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time Enseignant-chercheur position in the Department of French Studies and Modern Languages at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning 1st August 2024.

We are looking for a new colleague passionate about teaching French language and Francophone cultures at all levels of the undergraduate French curriculum. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching at the university level and must have solid experience teaching French as a second language.

–  proven capacity for research and excellent, engaged teaching committed to student learning within a liberal arts context.
–  solid academic training in teaching French as a second language.
–  ability to teach introductory-level courses in English about Francophone cultures or world languages.
–  desire to teach lower-level French language courses.
–  capacity to work in a multi-cultural environment.
–  familiarity with current trends in liberal arts education, language pedagogy, backward design, skills development (critical thinking, information and digital literacy, etc.) and assessment is highly desirable.
