With a view to providing formal and non-formal learning of French and enriching students’ cultural sensitivity and understanding, the Education University of Hong Kong - Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies and Student Affairs Office - now invites applications for the post of French International Tutor (French IT) to support co-curricular activities related to language learning and intercultural events for students of all programmes at EdUHK.
The appointment will commence from mid-August 2018.
The appointee will be required to provide teaching and administrative support and be engaged in evening social activities and occasionally weekend activities.
Reporting both to the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies and the Student Affairs Office, the appointee will be provided with opportunities to organize programmes for students’ language and cultural enrichment, personal growth and professional development via hall-based and campus-wide events.
He/she will also provide teaching support for elementary French Language courses and conduct language advising sessions focusing on basic communication skills in French. Where necessary, the appointee may also be required to run language advising workshops in English. In-house training in language advising, to be conducted in English, will be provided to the appointee.
The appointee is also required to reside in a student hostel.

The successful applicant should be a native speaker of French and fluent in English, with at least a Bachelor’s degree preferably in the areas of teaching and/or language education. He/she should also have a sound knowledge in graphics applications as well as a high level of literacy in computer applications including MS Office, and possess strong communication and presentation skills, problem-solving and leadership skills as well as planning and organizing abilities.

2 - a written proposal (in English and in French) on the following topic : “You are in charge of organising an event to raise students’ interest in studying French at the university. Write a proposal, including the objectives, event details, expected challenges and possible solutions.”
